Obituary for Marc Andre Caron

Marc Caron
December 3, 1966 to December 2, 2017
Calgary, Alberta

Marc Caron passed away on December 2, 2017 at the age of 50. Marc is lovingly remembered and missed by his wife of 20 years, Michelle; his children Sterling and Grace; his mother Gisele Caron; his brother Steeve, (Carmen and children Joshua and Samantha); his sisters, Rejeanne, (Bryan and children Olivia and Giovanni); and Julie, (Jeff and children Alexi, Naomi and Harris); Aunt Jesse and Aunt Sandee and many other relatives, colleagues and friends. Marc is predeceased by his father Andre Caron.

Marc was born in Ottawa to Andre and Gisele Caron. He was the oldest of four children, Steeve, Rejeanne and Julie. The Caron family moved to Calgary the fall of 1977 and Marc started attending school in English. After graduation, Marc worked as an apprentice welder until a downturn forced the company to lay him off. Marc got a job at Csar and attended SAIT to become a carpenter. Marc met Michelle when she was hired as summer office help and they were married the summer of 1997. Sterling Caron was born April 2000 and Grace Caron November 2002. Marc’s career took him to Whynot Construction where he worked closely as a project manager in restoration with Shane (Linda Whynot) and got to know and love Skye, the dog, and Shane’s children and grandchildren.

Marc loved nature and was a passionate hunter and fisherman. He shared his joy of the outdoors with his children, taking them on many fishing trips, annual Christmas tree cutting trips and nature walks. Marc often said his favorite hunting partner was his son Sterling and one of his last wishes was to take his son out hunting one more time. He also regretted that he was unable to finish teaching his daughter Grace to drive and continuing to take her out or discuss the world and politics (as well as imparting all his fatherly wisdom).

Marc took great care of people, whether it was his family or strangers. There were times when Marc would go to someone’s house at 3:00 in the morning, not because their emergency was large enough to warrant it but simply because they were panicked and needed help. He built things, fixed things, and offered sensible advice and listened. His guidance, stories, jokes and support will be sorely missed.

He will be forever in our hearts.

A Celebration of Marc’s Life will be held at Choice Memorial (105 – 4715 13st NE, Calgary, AB) on Saturday, December 9, 2017 from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm.
