Condolence: John was a great neighbor and friend, and all of us neighbors are missing him so very much. We surround you with our love - Karla, Josh and Jackie, Caleb and Britt, Karen and family. For a story about John, I'll tell the one about one time when we asked you and John to watch our house when we were going away. Somebody said something about if the house catches on fire, and John said, "We'll take pictures!" When we got past the surprise, we all laughed heartily, because it's true that that's exactly all you'd be able to do in that circumstance, but John's delivery of that line was so perfect that it just made everyone burst into laughter. A number of years ago now, John's forging tools were put to good use by Josh and Mark, creating knives that are still treasured. John's guidance on that project, his interest, conversations, care, and kindness meant so much to us and Mark. John was so smart, witty, funny, caring, and good. He was a good man, a good neighbor, and a good friend. We miss him tremendously and continue to pray for your healing and strength.

Condolence: My dear friend, I was so shocked and saddened the day I heard of John’s passing. Regardless of all the struggles that we all face in life, your life’s story is an inspiration and speaks highly of the power of love. I know from conversations how much you, John and the boys grew so much as a loving family over the years. My heart breaks for you to see you lose the love of your life and that the boys have lost a loving father. My deepest sympathies to you and all the family. Condolence: At a time when my life was crumbling around me and I felt very little hope, I was lucky enough to meet John. He had a good eye for character and talent, and I was lucky enough to be able to recover and thrive under his tutelage. It's hard to imagine the world losing someone so good, I can't even begin to imagine the imact of the loss on loved ones - my heart goes out to you, anyone who knew him, and feels the loss. Condolence: Dear Karla, Caleb and Josh: My heart is deeply saddened to hear the sudden loss of John, Karla your soul mate. John and I worked together for many years. During these years and beyond we developed a special friendship, born not only out of work, but through the mountain highs and valley lows of life. Our friendship was held together through Christian love and respect for each other. I remember getting ice cream cones and/or coffee and talking about life. He always had a warm glow and his big smile on his face when he spoke of you and the boys. I remember vividly him coming to work by bicycle and starting his day off with his daily plain baked potato. He worked hard at his bicycling, just as he did at everything he put his hand to. His big laugh was infectious and always lifted me up. I will always be thankful to John for helping me and my wife come back to Canada after working in the USA. I will miss him so! Condolence: John will be missed deeply. Though I didn't know him long, he was so easy to get along with that I felt I knew him for a much longer time. We shared car rides from hotel to office and he was helping me to get acclimated to my new assignment. He spoke so lovingly of you Karla, and your two sons.
