Obituary for Rolf Waldemar Schneider
SCHNEIDER, Rolf (Ralph)
August 4, 1935 - December 6, 2018
It is with great sadness that the family of Rolf Schneider announces his sudden passing, on Thursday, December 6th, 2018, at the age of 83. Rolf was born in Hamburg, Germany on August 4th, 1935 to (Kaethe) Katie and (Nikolaus) Karl Schneider. Rolf came to Canada in June of 1952 with his father, by boat to Montreal and then by train to Calgary. They both went to work for J.I. Case.
Rolf will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 52 years, Rosie; and his children, Susan-Jane (Clayton), Ryan (Alina), and Rachel (Isaac). Rolf will be fondly remembered by his 3 grandchildren, Kasia, Arlo, and Odin and by his sister, Karin (Norm).
Rolf was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend who spent his life serving others. He was generous, kind, and always spoke into peoples’ lives with compassion. Rolf was a caring man who was strong in his faith, he will be missed dearly by everyone who had the pleasure to meet him.
Rolf spent over 40 years working with the Churgin and Switzer families, performing back-office accounting and other operational roles for the shoe stores, as well as property manager for “The Building” the families owned on 17 Ave and 7th Street SW. He also worked for decades with the McClelland brothers around personal tax accounting and a bit of corporate work here and there. Plus, Rolf did lots of tax return work for various families, special medical (tax) cases and estates, especially the latter over the past years.
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, December 13th, 2018 at 1:30 pm at Bow Valley Christian Church, 5300 - 53 Ave NW, Calgary, with Pastor Peter Kehler and Pastor Rick Scruggs presiding.
