Obituary for Frank Peter Fioretti

FIORETTI, Frank Peter

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Frank Peter Fioretti on Wednesday, March 13, 2019 at the age of 83. Frank is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Dallas Fioretti and his three sons, Mike (Shannon), Gary (Leslie) and Mark (Michelle). He also leaves to mourn his 8 cherished grandchildren, Troy, Leah, Ethan, Sam, Claire, Natalia, Chase and Robbie. He was predeceased by his parents, Ines and Angelo Fioretti and his sister, Lydia.

Frank was born in Fernie, B.C. on July 3, 1935. He left Fernie at a young age to pursue an education, honouring his father’s wishes. His ambition and strong work ethic culminated in him completing his degree in Electrical Engineering at UBC in 1960. While still at UBC, Frank married the love of his life, Dallas, who supported him while he finished his degree.

The greatest joy in Frank’s life was raising his three boys with his wife, Dallas. Frank could always be found coaching or cheering on his boys at the rink and then in later years his grandchildren at their various sporting activities. Frank had a special love for hockey, and played well into his 70s. There were many family discussions about his unwavering support of the Edmonton Oilers.

Some of Frank’s happiest times were those spent with family and friends camping, fishing and hiking in the mountains. He was always the first to offer a helping hand and would spend countless hours whenever his family or friends needed him, especially with home renovation projects.

Frank had a long and successful career, which eventually brought him to Calgary. At the height of his career, he was responsible for managing Westinghouse’s Western Canadian operations. He was known as an extremely hard worker and a strong mentor.

Frank will be lovingly remembered for his constant teasing of grandchildren and pets. He was also masterful at debating any and all topics with friends and family. Frank was deeply loved by family and friends and will be greatly missed.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, March 18, 2019 at 11:00 am at St. Albert the Great Parish, 10 Prestwick Drive SE, Calgary, AB.

In lieu of flowers a tribute/donation in Frank’s memory to Alzheimer’s Society would be appreciated.
